Hey guys, I upgraded my mobo and CPU (but I broke the new CPU oops) so I kept my old one (amd Athlon II x2 215) and my new motherboard is a asus m5 a97 r2.0 and I was successfully able to install w8 on it butttttttt... When I turn it on, it won't boot up. My cup amd gnu fan is running. Everything is running beside my monitor and keyboard and maybe mouse. My dvi, keyboard USB cables are all connected but it still won't boot ;(
Specs:
Mobo: ASUS m5a97 r2.0
Ram: 5gigs of DDR1333 MHz
CPU: amd Athlon II x2 215
Gpu: XFX r7 240
Didn't plug in a HDD yet.
SSD: PNY optima ssd series 240GB

If it doesn't even poll (and it looks like it isn't), then either your CPU, RAM, GPU or mobo are failing to engage. Does the mobo have any diagnostic LEDs (or PC speaker that beeps) to help narrow down the issue? Try reseating all of the components, and make sure the all PSU power cables are properly connected to the mobo/GPU (including the separate CPU power cable). Also how have you managed to get 5 GB of RAM?

For the 5 GB of ram, (weird story) my HP computer came with 5 Gigs of ram back in 2009 when I don't know a single thing about computer. CPU is working and is correct (Tested it twice). RAM is 100% working. I just got my mobo yesterday. I'll try to connect everything to my mobo again to see if it works. Also, I hear no beep.

I had a look at the manual, and it definitely SHOULD beep (assuming your internal PC Speaker is connected - this is totally separate from your external audio!). http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM3+/M5A97_LE_R2.0/E7460_M5A97_LE_R2.pdf
See page 54 for the different beep codes.

Yes. See Page 38 of the mobo manual (3rd bullet point). It connects to the System Panel Connector as shown. I thought you normally got a (very crappy) speaker with your mobo, but I'm not sure what they do nowadays (my mobo is 5 years old, and I have a system speaker!). My other PC has an LED array that shows the various faults.
