Hey there and thanks in advance for reading,

Well my problem is just like the headline says it. When I have both my SSD (OS) and HDD (1.3 TB with data) properly connected to my computer, it suddenly stops before reaching the sign in screen. By stops I mean that there comes this screen with the moving circle (where my mouse and keyboard – both colored – loose their power and the lights go off). Nothing happens past then.

This all began, when I was copying some files within my HDD from folder to folder. (Yes regular copying). Also had some programms running, where suddenly my HDD got disconnected. In win explorer it wasn’t listed anymore and had a questionmark at it’s icon. The disk management window also was not showing it anymore. I also took a look at the eventlog where I got:

  • ■ A lot of Event ID 51 warnings pointing at \Device\Harddisk1\DR1 (which ‘was’ my HDD)
    ■ One Event 157 = Says that Harddisk 1 was surprisingly removed ( 😉 )
    ■ [The top most] Event Id 153 - The IO operation at logical block address 0x365453c8 for Disk 1 (PDO-Name: \Device\00000035) was repeated.

I thought that a simple reboot would fix that issue but no. Since then that error started to occur.

What have I done so far?

  • ■ Changed Sata and the Cables from the PSU several times
    ■ Checked Bios. Everything is fine, it displays the correct size and after exiting bios where my disks are shown everything is also fine
    ■ Tried to get to the automated repair
    ■ Ensured that it’s booted from my SSD
    ■ Turned on and off quick boot option in BIOS

However, when I completely remove my HDD (meaning no sata cable and no psu cable attached), it boots up perfectly fine. This only happens, when I have both disks plugged in.
