Computer not detecting bios file

[video="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-aiRo7ZXBk"][/video]I have an asrock 980de3/u3s3 motherboard and i'm wanting to update the bios to the 2.0 version, instant flash. I've tried 3 different usb's but it doesn't detect the bios file. (Sorry for the horribly shaky video)

Firstly, there are visual cues; USB 2.0 drives are typically black connectors. USB 3 are typically blue or teal.

If the drive says "Superspeed" or has the superspeed logo (https://www.google.com.au/search?q=usb+3.0+logos&num=50&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwilgdnvlZjRAhUMErwKHdBRCW0Q_AUICCgB&biw=1585&bih=1073), it's likely a USB 3.0 drive.

Secondly, connect your drive and right click it, then select properties.

If it says NTFS for the file system, reformat it (Backup anything you need to keep first), it as FAT32. Then copy the BIOS file back to the drive.

No, instant flash is usually just a raw BIOS file. The Windows flash file is an exe.

Oh right, well in that case if its zipped remember to unzip. Bios's cant read zipped files

All good.

I've tried a few ASUS boards and had similar issues. The X99-Deluxe/3.1. From memory, the process is similar... Download BIOS, unzip, place on FAT32 USB drive... etc.

<sigh> I remember the days when this stuff used to just work... Now things are a real lottery
