Last night I shut down my computer and this morning I tried to turn it on. When I press the power button, the LED turns on and the fans begin to spin, but only for approximately one second. Then it turns off and pressing the power button does nothing. When I switched the power cable to another outlet and pressed the power button again, the computer tries to turn on again but then shuts off after a second and will not turn on. I'm expecting this is my power supply because I can't think of anything else it could be. Is this an accurate assessment or can anyone else shed any light on the problem? Thanks!

well if there are no beeps, and you dont have one of those mobos that dont have the beep speaker built in. then the options are the bad mobo, vcard, or power. if you do have a mobo with a separate pc speaker to plug in you might want to track it down and see if it gives a few beeps.

video card is very unlikely but ive had a few die where the system didnt recognize it was bad. but you would hear the windows start sounds eventually. so try that last.

power is most likely, as it has the most parts that tend to not last long (capacitors).

your mobo can die and give such a problem. I've had it happen once. but i would start with swaping power supplies and see if it works since its the most likely and nearly the easiest to swap out.
