Computer not Recognizing Ethernet Cable

Hey all, I've been trying to connect my desktop to our router recently, and dug up some old Cat5 cable with some caps. Two other computers in the house have been wired with the stuff by hand, and have experienced no issues. For whatever reason, though, my computer will not acknowledge that the cable is plugged in.

I got the cap on right and plugged it in. The light didn't come on, but it did connect. I did a speedtest, and everything seemed alright for a few minutes before it just stopped working. Now, it won't even say that I have a cable plugged in. I know the cable works because it started off just fine. What could be causing this?

Welp, turns out some of the cables slipped during crimping. Thanks for the help!

(Hand-doing these things is hell, btw.)
