Hi! First of all, I'm not so much into the tech area. I know a few things and terms, but not enough to get my way around issues or understand when ppl tell me some stuff. Just wanted to put it out there so you know I'm probably like your parents, grandparents or w/e.
OK, now on to the issue. I've been excited to play the port of FFXIII when I first saw it on Steam and now that I got it, my computer started to act weird. Not exactly when I installed and played the game (I actually played 12h in w/o problems), so I know that's hardly the problem. Starting yesterday my computer started to suspend/hibernate by itself about 20-30min into the game. It also happened a couple times when I brought the machine to bed to watch films (both on Netflix and MPC). Before sending it to technical assistance I wanted to try and solve it by myself. Thought it could be outdated drivers, so I updated Windows (had almost 700MB of updates) and my video card. After the video card was updated, the computer doesn't identify it anymore. I also can't open HP Support Assistent and neither the properties window (you know, on "My Computer", right click, properties). For some weird reason, that window simply bugs out and Explorer restarts.
Unfortunately my warranty with HP expired, so I decided to ask around here because I know it's gonna take a long time for my mother to finally take the computer somewhere - and even a longer time for it to come back, gods knows how. So, any thoughts on anything I could do? Thx in advance!
TL;DR: After Windows and video card updates, the computer doesn't recognize the video card nor opens the properties window.
Edit: Sorry, forgot to say which card it is! It's AMD (or ATI, idr) Radeon HD 7-something. I can't look it up cos the drivers window won't open... Oh, also, it's a laptop HP Pavilion G4. Win7.
