I recently bought an Intel Core i7-9700K to upgrade from my Intel Core i5-6500. I compared my current BIOS to the one needed for my new CPU and realised it needed to be updated - so i did.

My ASUS PRIME Z270-A motherboard had no trouble updating and everything worked fine when i re-launched my computer. I updated my BOIS from 0505 to i believe 1308.

When i put in my new i7 and tried starting my computer like normal nothing happened. The motherboard has power, the LEDs on it work and the LED power light indicator is green. I’ve tried switching back to my old CPU and it works just fine. I’ve also tried taking out and putting in my RAM along with the cables going from my start button to the motherboard.

When trying to start my computer with my new CPU nothing happens, no activity whatsoever Thank you for your help, i will gladly answer questions if needed.

I don’t remember where i checked exactly but i remember it saying that the Z270 has support for the i7 series.

Do i need to buy a 300s series motherboard for my i7 to work properly?
