computer only detects 2 cores and 4 threads

so i upgraded my cpu and i noticed that task manager and core temp only detects 2cores of 4 any tips?

4790k is not supported probably a motherboard limit, you may try a fresh bios upgrade, but Hp like dell often do not have for later on upgraded or top of line cpu. and the TDP is 84W for this motherboard and the 4790K is 88 Watt, which is probably the real reason.

I had the same problem a year ago.

I have installed processors driver in devices manager (right click on the processor on the list of your devices - click uninstall)

right click on my computer what processor is displayed by windows new or old?

if this does not help I would update bios.

i had i5-4460 3.2ghz and all pins were fine

Understood. That is an 84w TDP CPU.

No, this is not a PSU issue at all. Rather, the motherboard does not support the i7-4790k CPU. That is the apparent issue here. It would support the i7-4790 (non-K) version.
