Computer only starts when ram removed

I recieved a desktop from a friend. they said it was storming and the computer stopped working. The computer keeps turning off and on never boots. I removed the ram and I got it to start. Could the ram be bad.

It is ram. I had the same proble. High voltage electricity burn the Ram and that is why pc fails to start. Just buy a new one and you wil solve the problem.
