Computer only using 2 sticks of ram out of 4 after windows 10 reinstall

just as the title says, I have 16 GB of ram installed and only 8 is detected all of a sudden. I've had 16 gb for 6 months already and the only change I made was adding an SSD and reinstalling windows 10 on it.

I hate weird windows issues. Try this
Remove all but one stick of ram boot windows. Shut down.
Install all sticks of ram boot windows... see what happens.

I tried this all but no solution. I even ran Memtest86 and it says i have 8gb total but it also says i have 4gb in each of my 4 ram slots

this could be sheer coincidence.

Did you clear the CMOS between efforts? Update the BIOS to the latest revision?

haven't updated my BIOS but idk why i would have to when i haven't changed any settings and it was working before for like 6 months. frustrating situation.

I agree, but flashing the BIOS with even the same rev can clear a lot of bullshit issues.
