Hello everybody,

I have just recently built a computer with the following parts:

Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.3GHz LGA 2011-v3
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler
Asus 24x DVD-RW Serial-ATA Internal OEM Optical Drive
Samsung Electronics 840 Pro Series 2.5-Inch 256 GB SATA 6GB/s Solid State Drive
ASRock X99 Extreme4 LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400
Corsair RM Series 1000 Watt ATX/EPS 80PLUS Gold-Certified Power Supply
Western Digital Caviar Green 3 TB SATA III 64 MB Cache Bare
Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 4 GB
Windows 8.1

I consider these parts to pretty much be the top of the line, especially with the processor.

However, I have noticed that in some games, like minecraft, Saints row 4, payday 2, and battlefield 4, I received moments where I had fps drops when there was intense graphic activity that was occurring during the game. I feel like this computer, especially being just recently built, should have no problem perfectly running any games without any fps drops.

My question is, why is my computer dropping fps during some games when it really shouldn't be. Is my setup bottle necking or wrong in some way? Is there something I didn't setup properly. What tips would you recommend to increase my performance to the max.

make sure the mb bios is up to date...ram set to xmp profile. run cpu-z and gpu-z make sure the gpu running at the right bus speed. use msi afterburner set a fan profile that maxes the fan out at low speeds. Higher temps....gpu will clock itself down...

Was not a typo, I did mean GTX 680. Although it is old, it still does have good ratings and I didn't have the money to get the 980 just yet so the 680 is serving as a placeholder until then. And I will try your recommendations, smorizio. I'll get back to you once I do all of that.
