My computer was running and there was a "pop" and the computer turned off and it will not turn on.

I looked in the case for any signs of damage. I didn't find any of the damage, and though there was a bit of dust on the inside, it wasn't running hot.

I don't know what the issue is and I don't really have disposable income at the moment.

My computer parts are:
Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor

Asus Maximus VI Hero ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory

MSI GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB TWIN FROZR Video Card

Cooler Master i500 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

Solution

No. Make sure that the PSU you use is a known good PSU that will supply the required power under load. The paperclip test is not a reliable test; does not test under load.
