Im not sure if the CPU overheating is the cause of this, but I want to check with you guys on what I should look at before I give up and bring it to the computer technician.

Last week the computer has been processing heavy video files and this last weekend, it started doing this problem a lot. I'd be in the middle of exporting 8K video files and the computer would just power off, and then try and restart. And when it tries to restart, it doesnt do a thing, as its not really rebooting. Black screen with no video signal. I thought it may be my video card I bought a month ago, so I pulled it and returned it. But that wasn't the issue, as its still doing this problem. I wasn't sure if I bumped the cpu cooler when installing the video card, breaking the paste on the cpu. But it ran for most of the month before this problem started occuring.

Before I pull the cpu cooler and put new paste on it, what else can I check? I put a cpu temp program on and the highest temp was 92 degrees C. Most of the time it hovered around 45, 60, or even 70 degrees. Idling it was lower. Processing files it got higher and eventually shut down. I dont know if maybe I have a short somewhere? Any thoughts? Im getting a new video card since I returned the old one out of haste, since the GPU was not the issue.

95 degrees is the max for ryzen so if you got to 92 overheating could be the issue, depends on what the software was reporting, if it was average CPU temp then it's definitely overheating.

Go into bios and check the settings, upload a few pics if you can, it could have pbo and/or xmp enabled which could be the cause of the issue,

92 peaked only once while I watched and it didn't stay at that temp. Temps varied quite a bit during load. I have a new 4TB M.2 drive coming soon, so to make that install easy, maybe I'll pull the cpu cooler out and re paste.

Are you using any enhancements or voltage reduction like Curve Optimizer ? Check idle voltages in BIOS. After heavy use, voltage would often drop too much and too fast and cause shutdown. That cpu should not shut down under 105-110c. at 95c it would just throttle down a bit.

Well the system has pretty much given in. Boot it and it would run for a few minutes before the mouse stops working and the computer will freeze up. My D15 CPU cooler seems tight on its mount, so I question if the cooler is the problem with the CPU overheating. Im wondering if maybe one of the memory sticks is the issue? Im currently on my laptop, as I unplugged my desktop computer to get it looked at. The D15 cooler isnt easy for me to get at its mounting screws, so I better get a tech to work on it.

If you suspect memory, use one stick at a time in proper slot and run tests.

The computer repair shop thinks the power supply has packed it in. Good thing there is a 10 year warranty on the PSU. I bought the same series of PSU, except at 1200 watts, so they can just swap it in and test.

Before I get the new PSU installed, taking out the old one, would a power supply cause the computer to run slow, and eventually freeze up, though still stay powered on? Im trying to figure if their suggestion of the PSU going south is really the issue? They say it wont power on right now, but when I did have it running, it was slow and freezing last time I used it.

Secondly, typically how long does a Thermaltake PSU RMA warranty repair take before I get the part back? Someone said it can take up to 6 months sometimes.
