Computer powers on but doesn't communicate mouse, monitor, or keyboard

Hello,
my hp slimline pavilion s3020n was working fine, when i turned it back on the power light is on and the lights on the keyboard flash once but that is it. Nothing comes on the screen and the mouse and keyboard do not work. what could be the problem? please help

If nothing comes on the screen how do you know the mouse and keyboard dont work?

Check your monitor connection.

The lights on them are not lit. the monitor check claims it is working, it just doesnt display any information from the computer.

Disconnect keyboard/mouse, if no picture, its either the video card or screen.

HP said its my motherboard. they had me take the RAM cards out and turn it on and because there was no noise, they came to the conclusion that my motherboard is bad. Thanks for your inputs!!
