COmputer Problem guys

Could you help me guys. i actually have this computer problems lately.

During this summer i was searching for an antivirus so i installed avast. but then i realized that avast is incompatible with my style so i uninstalled it. and thats were all hell broke loose. it took me few days to really remove avast and all its traces with avast uninstaller. after uninstall my computer got shitty. i've been experiencing all sorts of errors lately. could pls help me, all this errors are annoying. plus i cant start properly chrome, vlc, adobe pdf and other sorts of programs, i need to save a copy of there original .exe (Archived rar) bcoz their exe file keeps on corrupting (am i correct). every time i open it(If i just open it directly without replacing the corrupted exe file with a safe one that i have saved), it shows it has stopped working. well i can still use my computer but im starting to really hate it. pls help Thanks guys

Be sure to backup / copy any important data files before completing a clean installation. Make note of any programs you need to reinstall to ensure they're available for your use.

Short answer: yes.
Longer version: to positively confirm the presence of malware, you'd need to run software that detects it (but failing to detect it with anti-virus etc software doesn't confirm an absence of malware -maybe it's just not in the database of your detection software yet).
The behaviour you describe is so typical of malware you should just treat it like that until proven otherwise - i.e. if you do a clean install and you haven't solved the problem then you may be looking at something else.
You can try checking for hardware or other problems first, but you'll probably just end up wasting a lot of time and wishing you hadn't.

Saving data from an infected machine to an external device and then copying that data to a clean machine does run the plausible risk of infecting the new machine.

However, he should be allowed the opportunity to choose to save any data before hastily reformating his HDD, with the caveat that it could be infected as well. I apologize for not adding the caveat.

Sure, good to let the op know they'll be loosing the data and warn them of the risk - I should have done that.

What i did was to copy all the important files with an external HDD, i did not reproduced the existing drive or backed it up. is it a safe method? what method should i use anyway?

Manual copying of files is probably the closest you'll come to safe - but you should assume the HDD has infected files; scan it, just copy back individual files when you need them. You may end up re-infecting a clean machine.
