Computer problem startup only shows blue screen microsoft xp

I have not used my computer for 1 week and today upon startup, the only screen that show up is the blue microsoft xp screen, not only the logon

I'm not quite following what do you mean by blue screen? - the default desktop background?

and what do you mean by phrase "not only the logon" - i'm clueless on this one
