Computer pulses when plugged in.

Hi! The computer was working just fine until I rebooted in Ubuntu and it never booted. Now the computer doesn't even start. The computer pulses when plugged in. The leds turn on and then off over and over. It might be the power supply but I am not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is your PSU brand and model. Are you able to run a monitoring utility and post screenshots of the voltages?

Sounds off hand as though the PSU took an inopportune time to die. If anything was changed inside the PC, there may be a short in the system but if no hardware was messed with, I'd advise looking into a quality PSU

Ohhhhhhhhhh Christ! It's the PSU, without any doubt. That's one of the worst and most problematic units of ALL time. It's a Tier 5 replace immediately unit as seen here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html

That EXACT PSU is what brought me to Tom's Hardware in the very first place, looking for answers about it. Since then, I've repaired at least ten failed systems that had those crappy units that TigerDirect includes with almost all their bundles.

IF, and stress IF, you actually need a 750w PSU, this is probably your best bang for the buck choice. And since you can't really do better than a Seasonic built unit, it's a great choice. If, according to your system specs, you don't need one that big, and I'd be surprised if you did unless you have a really heavyweight GPU or multiple cards, I'll be happy to make that determination for your and pick out a really good unit that won't cause you any further problems, at least not due to the PSU.
