I haven't got a clue how to begin addressing this problem. All I know is randomly my computer (asus q400a w/ SSD) with windows 8, randomly (seemingly) decides to not wake up from sleep. It usually happens when I am away from my computer for a long time. When I attempt to resume activity, usually by re-opening the lid or if not closed attempting to wake from sleep by mouse/keyboard activity, it is unresponsive. All I see is the backlight from the screen, which is black, and I hear the fan running. I have to hard reboot by holding the power button off.

This is inconvenient as I loose the data I was working on. Any help will be appreciated.

I don't know where to start, I can post event logs...

so far the only this I see out of the usual is:

event log upon (attempted) resume from sleep:

Samsung 840 256GB

I just updated the firmware. It was not up to date. Do you think this was the problem? If so, why? I am just curious as to the cause. I will see if this solves it. As I dont know what caused the issue I will have to wait and see if it happens again!

Thank you nonetheless
