Computer randomly freezes

My computer has recently started freezing every 5-7 secs or so while browsing the internet or playing games.The computer just hard locks up for several seconds before becoming responsive again.I run Win 7 premium 64 bit ver.
Intel i5-2410MCore with 8gb ram.I have reinstalled windows and updated my bios but the problem persists.Can anyone help me?
