Question Computer randomly freezing and stuttering in the most basic games?

Whenever I'm playing anything from Rust to rocket league or minecraft, my game will randomly freeze completely dropping to 1 FPS and if I'm in a discord call everyones voice cuts out or they lag for when its frozen. It also happens pretty much every time I launch a game.

CPU: i7-9700k
GPU: MSI RTX 2070
Motherboard: z390 rog strix egaming
RAM: 16GB GSkill Trident RGB @ 3600
CPU Cooler: Kraken x62
Storage: 500GB Samsung 860 EVO, 154GB still free
PSU: EVGA 750W G+ 80 Plus Gold fully modular

This all recently started within the last few weeks. I've had my computer for about 5 months now. If anyone has any idea what it could be, let me know!

Welcome to the forums my friend!

Do you have latest drivers installed (and not from a third party driver installer app) - this includes:

• GPU
• MB/Chipset
• Internet/Network etc.

Do you have latest BIOS installed?
Have you run a disk cleanup and defrag/trim anytime recently?
Have you monitoring GPU and CPU % usage when the drops occur?
Unfortunately idle temps don't really indicate anything, being as the problems occur when their is a load spike or prolonged load, have you monitored GPU and CPU temps under load?
Have you monitored your internet stability?
