Hi,

I recently built a computer for my girlfriend and it's been working solid for about 2 months. Recently, the computer has been misbehaving. Randomly it started shutting down. No BSOD, no error message, and no automatic reboots. When the computer does shut down, it loses all power. There are no lights lit up on the motherboard at all. Pushing the power button does nothing. If I wait about 10-20 seconds, the lights come back on and I am able to power the computer back up.

I thought maybe the CPU was over heating (even though I'm not doing any overclocking), but CoreTemp shows the CPU hovering at about 70 degrees Fahrenheit at all times. The power loss occurs during games as well as sitting idle in Windows.

I have tried re-seating all motherboard cables, and I have re-seated the CPU, Heatsink, and memory. I have not tried re-seating the video card. I thought maybe the PSU might be over heating, so I flipped it around so the fan was facing into the case rather than out the bottom. I have tried multiple surge protectors, power cables, and I have tried using a different wall outlet. The computer still randomly loses power.

At this point I am heavily leaning towards the PSU being the problem, but was just wondering if anyone had any other ideas. Below is a list of the components I used to build this machine:

ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD FD6300WMHKBOX FX-6300 6-Core Processor Black Edition
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan
G.Skill 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz Ripjaws Series (9-9-9-24) Dual Channel kit
Sapphire Radeon R9 270 2GB GDDR5 DVI-I/DVI-D/HDMI/DP Dual-X with Boost and OC
Crucial MX100 128GB SATA 2.5" 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal Solid State Drive
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB SATA III 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Desktop Hard Drive
Asus 24x DVD-RW Serial-ATA Internal OEM Optical Drive
EVGA 600B 80PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V/EPS12V Active PFC 600W Power Supply
Cooler Master HAF 912 - Mid Tower Computer Case with High Airflow

Here is a screenshot of CoreTemp readings:

Not good as in it's not enough wattage, or not good as in the model stinks? It had 4-5 stars on amazon so I went with it.

And would you agree that the PSU is most likely the culprit?

Thanks.
