Computer randomly restarting!

The other day my computer randomly restarted but only once so I went ahead and dismissed it as an issue. However, two days later my computer is now randomly restarting every 2 to 30 minutes.

I then updated all my drivers, scanned for any viruses and found nothing. I then booted my computer in Safe mode and suprisingly it didnt restart.

Then I went to reinstall Windows and while doing so my computer restarted twice.

My temperatures are normal, I have a program on my desktop which constantly monitors the temperature and nothing is abnormal.

These restarts aren't blue screens containing any error message but just instead the screen goes black and the computer restarts.

I then opened my computer , completely unplugged the power and gently cleaned it of any dust incase that had any chance of being the problem.Then when I started it up only the Power Supply fan ran and nothing else.

I have a Corsair CX750 power supply which is just past a year old, I have read reviews of them constantly failing and even reviews mentioning them causing constant random reboots and then just dying all together.

So currently my suspision is that my Power Supply is faulty and that I need to purchase a new one, however I have no spare ones which I could use to test and I know that random rebooting could be the motherboard, or even RAM issues.

I want to know what your thoughts are on the issue , your help and thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Kid,go ahead change the RAM before changing the PSU coz your fits just like mine.If this does not help out then change the PSU, if the problem still persists then via BIOS boot in voltage section and see if you're RAM is getting full potential (Voltage of of your RAM depends upon your RAM type) plus see the case might be of CPU cooling problems which is very critical in many cases if you're done cleaning out the dust from your System Unit and CPU fan too than change the power cable of PSU (On the back side of your System Unit) might that help you!!

Thanks I will definitely look into the RAM, but I don't think overheating is the issue. I have a program on my desktop which constantly monitors the temperature and it didn't seem to be abnormal.

It's hard to say,the psu sounds like the most probable cause.If you think it's this could you do an RMA since still in it's warranty period.

A full list of parts used would be nice when looking at these kind of threads.

Plus if your PC can sustain at least 20minutes then follow this link http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download and download ccleaner,with this clean your registry by scanning it,I know its really fool type logic but no!Sometimes this does fixes your type of problem because mostly registry can contain holes,wrong shutdown events and other crapware,so remember try this method too.

I can't my pc won't turn on due to nothing other than the Power Supply fan spinning!

Don't you think it'll be compatibility issues or just a little draw back because MEMTEST is based on 32-bit architecture another and we don't need a single bug while doing my MEMTEST.

Did not mean to choose best solution,and no it didn't noticeably sound louder.

What about the CPU exhaust-fan??Does it sounds terrible than before?Is it normal to hear the sound like always in daily computer usage.

Then you're OK with CPU cooling.

I'm assuming its the Power supply because it's commonly linked with this issue and especially my type. I think the Power supply is not giving off enough power to run the fans hence the reason it's the only thing running. I think it didn't restart in safe mode opposed to normal was because it's less demanding.

Maybe John want's to unselect that himself so other know this thread still isn't solved.

Your psu should have enough power for the hardware you use,only when being just a bad unit would it be the culprit.Like i said,only an rma will truly determine that.

Have you tried to just rebuild the whole pc from scratch? Sometimes this will do the trick.
