Hey so I just recently bought a new psu 450w and a gtx 650ti which requires 400w, I also bought some thermal grease for my cpu fan and I'm pretty sure I put that back on right. Computer turns on installed drivers etc but very randomly my computer will just shut off. No idea why..Anybody know? I think it has something to do with my cpu fan and that thermal grease but I really don't know and I don't want to ruin anything.

Thanks

Also, what do I do about this?

Um its an RS880 its not a card my motherboard already had the graphics in it if that makes sense

How much wattage are your other components taking up? Sounds like a power issue. A 450 may be too weak to run a card that's roughly 400 along with the rest of your components.

But he's getting a Catalyst Control Center driver error which isn't caused by power issues.

Its still randomly shutting off..I don't know what to do. I uninstalled the older drivers. I don't have good parts to my computer so I dont think its the psu. I really don't know what to do about this thermal grease/cpu fan issue. I'm hoping I did it right.

I don't think it's your thermal grease issue considering you're getting a CCC error, which is a display driver for ATI. Are you still getting the same error?

no i uninstalled it successfully but now i start up my computer log in windows and it randomly shuts off. and sometimes it boots half way then just shuts off instantly. I do believe its my psu any idea if I can refund something after I've used it for a few days to newegg?

EDIT: And could you help me find a power supply with the same dimensions as this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371045&Tpk=antec%20vp%20450 so it fits in my case, please and thank you!

Before you get a new PSU, can you tell me if you can boot in safe mode? If you can, try and take temperature readings off of your CPU, just to make sure that it isn't your CPU overheating and automatically shutting down to protect itself.

If you can't boot and you suspect it's your PSU still, I suggest something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151094

You can't go wrong with a brand like SeaSonic!

while i was replying to you my pc shut off lol. how do i check my cpu temp? and can you link me to the exact download I need to clean my ati drives?

http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/guru3d_driver_sweeper_%28no_installer%29.html hope thats it

Took out the hardrive computer crashed once, didn't go in safe mode but I cleaned out the ATI drives using the drive sweeper program from guru3d, put the card back in rebooted crashed again. Not sure what to do..

This is making me so frustrated!!!! I go in safe mode, clean out all ATI and Nvidia drivers just to be safe, reboot, go to log on windows, bang shuts off. Like what the hell? Whats wrong with my computer? I posted on here not long ago asking What psu should go with my gfx card and someone linked me to this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371045&Tpk=antec%20vp%20450
I don't know whats wrong! I've spent all day trying to fix it I don't want to buy a new computer. Please someone just help me fix this. I used a driver sweeper in safe mode deleted all drivers put the card back in it crashes, my psu should be ok..right? I really don't know.

This is a software that you can use to check your CPU temperatures. Let your computer rest after it shuts down, then try to download the software and run it to get a temp measurement. Best of luck.

What should I do if the temp isn't where its supposed to be? My computer wont stay on long enough to download then and run it. I don't know what to do.

You cannot go wrong with this PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703035&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= if you still have problems after buying this you have a different hardware problem altogether.
