Hey guys. I really need some help.

Specs:
CX 750 PSU (old)
I7 6700k 1151 socket (new)
Hyper X DDR 4 RAM 2x8gb (new)
MSI z390 A-PRO MoBo (new)
Graphics card Nvidia 980 G1 Gaming (old)

Everything marked as ”new” are parts i got in the Mail today.
After installing the parts the computer Will reboot 2-3 times then run without beeps or lights going off.
Problem is that i get no signal to either of my two monitors after it actually starts up.

Im lost here. Ive tried all the basics. Switching out the RAM, trying just one of the RAMs in all the different sockets.
Mouse and keyboard wont light up when the computer is running. What could it be ? As it actually starts after a few auto-reboots im guessing its not the psu ?

Not very good with computers. Tried googling and fixing it myself now for about 4 hours and im close to just giving up.

Any help appreciated!

Begin by restarting your system. Press the power button for a few seconds until the system reboots. Most motherboards power-on self-test (POST) or beep when there's a booting issue. If that is the case, refer to the motherboard manual to interpret.

Welcome to the forums my friend!

Your motherboard and CPU are not compatible.
You've picked an 8th/9th Gen MB with a 6th Gen CPU.

If per chance you thought it was "the same socket therefore compatible" I wrote a guide that covers some items like this and it's covered in point 2 https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...when-selecting-parts-for-a-custom-pc.3510178/

:)
Oh god... wow. Well that was embarrasing 😅 So i’m just buying a different mobo then and hopefully they Will allow me to return this one 🤣

Will do.
Thanks!

Do they actually advertise which gen it is ? Been looking at the boxens now and i cant seem to find anything about it being 6 gen or 7-8.
Yes, whenever you are purchasing a motherboard, ALWAYS go directly to the motherboard manufacturers page, for example your z390 pro page; https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z390-A-PRO
And it will state at the top of the page, if not, it will have a CPU support list: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/Z390-A-PRO#support-cpu

You can also configure a PC using pcpartpicker.com and it will automatically hide all non-compatible motherboards.

I see. Again, thanks a lot. I got the CPU cheap and i really dont want to spend a lot of money on a new MB so hopefully i’ll find a new one tomorrow.

Imagine if i didnt post here... sending it all back. Getting replacements. Same issues... i know this is my fault but since i ordered everything from the same online store one would think they had a warning pop up while ordering about it not being compatible 😅

Anyway. Again, thanks!

Z170 is 6th gen which will support 7th gen AFTER bios updates, Z270 is 7th generation which will support 6th gen CPU out of the box

^ either will run 6700K

\/ neither will run 6700K

Z370 is 8th gen which will support 9th gen AFTER bios updates, Z390 is 9th gen which will support 8th gen CPU out of the box

Sites like PCpartpicker have a system builder that will identify most conflicts between parts
