First time building a computer worked fine for a week. Then it wouldn't start up. Changed out motherboard and PSU still having problems. Now it starts up but restarts within 1min. So I have a very expensive brick and i dont know what is wrong.

TR2 600w
GA- 970a-ud3p
FX6300
GTX 550ti

The only thing i can think of left is that my GPU is bad. It is the only part that isnt new for this build. But would a bad GPU cause constant restarts

Solution
TR2 (and pretty much every other Thermaltake PSU) is terrible. Is your other PSU also one of these? Have you checked the temps of your machine? Does the system stay on if you pull out the GPU? It's possible that the PSU is not supplying enough power in the 12v rail. I've seen reboots occur because of this.

Yea my last one was a TR2 430w that I never had a problem with. Are they really that bad? the 600 I got from best buy actually had decent reviews. I don't trust reviews from newegg because a lot of negative reviews seem to come from shipping. Best buy was an in store pick up. I actually got my comp up an running after unplugging everything from the case, took out a stick of ram and repaired windows. Now im scared to mess with it anymore because its actually working... for now :heink:

Thermaltake has been going to better OEMs recently, but the market is still flooded with their crap PSUs. I would suggest looking at reviews from tech sites that actually test the PSU rather than consumer reviews for PSUs. Funny you mention their 430w PSU as that one is famous for being bad (it's actually a 350w PSU that doesn't really perform well). Don't take my word for it though, check out a review like this site which puts the PSU on some real inspection test.

Well crap. Guess ill try and fork over the extra cash for a better quality one and hope that fixes it. It actually started acting up again as soon as I started installing something. Now it freezes then restarts on windows load or a few seconds after I get to windows desktop.
