My computer used to run very quickly and I would be able to open multiple tabs in my browser (google chrome) without any input lag or loading time. My internet connection is 25Mbps Down speed, and 4Mbps Up speed, I have ruled out the internet connection as a problem.

I noticed the problem shortly after I installed my new graphics card 6870. I have the latest and most current drivers, and everything is up to date. I am using Microsoft Security Essentials.

My ram is 8GB (4x2GB) advertised to run at 1333, last I checked it ran at 1533. I was wondering why that might be and if that might be causing the slight lag when opening multiple tabs.

I have no other solution other then to do a fresh install of windows, but was wondering if you guys knew what could be causing the problem. If I did do a fresh install I was wondering if there was a way to clear all the bios settings, would I just have to take the battery out of the motherboard for about 10sec and put it back in?

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I will appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Edvin

Solution
Go to BIOS settings. (F2 during POST).
Then select "Load Default Settings." Save!
If this doesn't solve your issue, try manually adjusting the memory voltage and timings.
Why is your 1333 ram running at 1533?????? Really? you don't think that's a problem?

If you leave it like that it will fail and you will have to rma it.

Go in bios, manually set your dimm voltage, timings and speed according to the sticker on the ram.

Then come back and tell us if your still having problems.

How would I go about doing that, I don't remember changing the memory settings in the first place. When I put the first 4GB of ram into my system it was running at 1533, that was before I had my GPU and I didn't have this same problem.

On my motherboard there is a full page just on memory settings, and I have no idea which one to change.

Removing the cmos battery is not going to set your memory settings for you. LOL And you shouldn't be overclocking anything until you get your memory set correctly.

Go in bios under memory settings or dimm settings. Set voltage, timings, and speed to 1333. This is very easy.

Just look at the dimm sticker for the voltage and timings, voltage will be like 1.5v or 1.65v and the timings are like 9-9-9-24 or 8-8-8-20.

What is so funny? I understand it will not OC my computer, I was asking if it would reset all of the bio's settings and any changes that I made back to the factory settings.

It's funny because your still not getting it. Resetting your bios to factory defaults is not going to set your memory settings for you, this has to be done manually.
