Computer runs, all peripherals (monitor, mouse, keyboard) don't work

New build. Here are the specs...

Intel Core i5 3570k
Asrock z77 Extreme 6
OCZ Vertex 4 128gb
HDD 250gb
Kingston HyperX KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX 8GB
Nvidia GTX 470

This is a new build with recycled parts. For whatever reason when I start up the computer everything seems to work fine from the mobo side but none of the peripherals work. I plugged in an external HDD and the light goes on so the USB ports seem to work.

Any ideas?

Nothing worse than putting together a PC, hearing the fans work, only to have none of the peripheral work. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would try and clear the cmos. if your keyboard works in the bios screen..it lit but not in windows then it a windows issue..missing drivers or tried to use drive that had windows on it. if it locks up in the bios then you want to bare bone the pc. one stick of ram.no hard drives and check that the usb front header is on right. on the mb vendor web page there a bios update for usb device and an i-rock usb keyboard..so they know they have issue with usb device..i would try another keyboard.

There is problem with your RAM. I am sure about it because as you are saying computer is running and devices peripherals are not working this happens only due to RAM problem. If your RAM will not work then you can't get display and your pc suppose to be running condition.
Simply remove your RAM and clean up properly with eraser or papers and clean up socket with brush softly. Now put it and start your computer it will start work.
