i was playing god of war Ragnarök recently and got a message that my computer has run out of RAM and the game closed. i used to play this game all the time earlier this year and i never had this problem. and i notice other problems too, like if i have a game open, i can't even open my browser, if i do it just opens and crashes over and over. normally i could have a game and several tabs open at once. i have included an image of what my memory performance looks like. hopefully that provides some clues. my computer idles at around 40-50% usage when i am not gaming and when i am, it will go to 90% +. i am running the game on medium settings though it should be said that when the game DOES work, gameplay is as smooth as it always is.

another important note is that i have a gaming laptop due to portability needs. i have never physically touched the ram or changed it from how it was out of the box.

if its a laptop im not surprised it could be the game is using the iris gpu.

also having chrome open can eat up alot of memory even if you think youve shut it down.

go into processes in task manager and you might see chrome still open right click it and end task it before starting your game. there could also be additional issues i would recomend upgrading your gpu driver to latest version as well.

other things to check is nvidia control panel under manage 3d settings that its set to nvidia processor.

also try this as well scan for corrupt drivers

Open Resource monitor where you can see details what is using memory. 40-50% of used memory is far from idle, (should be about 1-2% at most so that means you have a lot of memory usage before you start game. Something big must be running in the background and you have to find it as it could be malware.
