This summer I'm going to be building a computer for my use in college. I am planning on double majoring in Computer Science and Mathematics, along with a potential minor in something else. Now.. because of this I'm looking for basically a beast at everything, which I know can be difficult. I'm trying to build a system that can run the newest games at peak performance (Not 4K), handle video editing, and can run programming applications I will be using throughout my coursework. Below is a summary of everything.

Approximate Purchase Date: Latest 10th of August. Probably late July.

Budget Range: $1000-$3000

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Programming, Gaming, Video Editing, Boinc, Surfing the web

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Parts to Upgrade: Completely new

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg & Amazon

Location: Cottage Grove, Minnesota - USA

Parts Preferences: Intel CPU definitely, preference toward Nvidia GPUs, Corsair Products.

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Your Monitor Resolution: At least 1920x1080

Additional Comments: It doesn't have to be silent or super quiet but I would prefer it to be quiet for respect to my roommate. The video editing software I use currently are Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and After Effects CS6. I'm interested in having two monitors for multitasking as well; however, if necessary I could stick with one for now, and another one later.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Brand new, not upgrading. I do have some random HDDs around my home.. however, they are old and vary in brand, type, size, etc.

I appreciate any help that can be given! I'm not even necessarily looking for specific parts as Q2 is nearly ending and I know there will be quite a few "back to school" sales starting up in late July/Early August. I'm more or less looking for suggestions as to what type of system, how many cores, SLI/Crossfire or no, Quadro or GeForce, RAM speed, etc.

This should help as a first approximation. Not much point in selecting specific vendors until it is closer to the purchase date.

Probably something along the lines of an X99 / i7-5920k / DDR4 system.

1920x1080 is a bit low end for the budget you have provided, but a couple of big 27" monitors would do you well. Though 2560x1440 would be my recommendation here.

Video card budget allows for pretty much anything from a high end gaming card to a mid-range professional card (or both)

Quite a few options left over that aren't really covered in your request list.

Case size? Color preferences? Overall storage capacity?

Usually leave keyboard, mouse, speakers/headphone up to the individual, but if you want I can toss in a recommendation. (probably headphone with a roommate)
