I just got an Epson RX500 All-in-one and if I turn it off my computer screen
freezes. The All-in-one is connected by aUSB1 port. I'm running Windows ME.
Epson suggested I use the "safely remove hardware" icon on the task bar, but
I dont have such an icon.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I think that's Windows XP they're talking about.

1. Return the epson and buy a Canon.
2. Buy separate items - not an all in one.
3. Click START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS and then
remove the relevant hardware from the list. Then follow the
installation instructions again, to the letter.
4. If number 3 doesn't work, see #1 & #2. : )
