Computer Shuts down when playing certain games

I built this PC around 2-3 years back:
CPU: I7-4470K @ 3.5GHz
GPU: GTX 970 SC GAMING ACX 2.0
PSU:Cooler Master G550M 550W 80 PLUS

The main games I play are Warframe and Rainbow 6 Seige, and I can play them fine. My temps for idle are around 30 C for CPU and 30 Cfor GPU.

When its under load my GPU is around 50-60 C and CPU is around 40-50 C. My problem comes up when I bought Assassins Creed Origins and it shuts down my computer when I try to benchmark it or even start a game. The weird thing is though, I could play Witcher 3 when it came out, but now its starting to do the same thing.

What should I do?

PS: I clean my PC yesterday and removed the dust on it, but i havent touched the thermal paste on my CPU since i built it

I don’t think thermals are an issue. When you say it shuts down are saying it blue screens or it just flat out powers off? If it’s cutting power without a blue screen then that’s indicative of a failing PSU.

if it works on other games but not work on this one, then youll have to tweak the graphic settings on that particular game. try lowering down the antialias or other settings to get it lower. you can try using GeForce experience to calibrate optimal settings for you automatically

Well yeah, its not even blue screening, its just flat out turning off and restarting.

Normally I would tweak my settings and all manually, Geforce experience likes to install and not work,when i open Geforce it just says something went wrong and i have to shut it down. I dont even have the option to open up Nvidia control panel

have you tried checking your Event Viewer. and see error/warning logs at the times you get a sudden restart/

I opened it up and I got this result:

go to the navigation tree on your left. Event Viewer > Custom Views > Administrative Events. find time where you got the sudden restart and check what errors you ahve there.

Error 41 for Kernel Power is pretty common whenever you have a fault in your power. Overclocking your CPU, Memory, and GPU can cause this when you have a demanding game running. You have a 550w unit which should be enough but it depends on the quality of the unit and voltage requirements of your hardware (especially when overclocking). Try turning the clocks down on your overclock and see what happens. If you get the same issue then you should consider a better and higher wattage unit.

Also, run the Windows Memory Diagnostic. Type that into your search bar and it will pull it up. Make sure your memory isn’t the issue.

OK, so I turned down my overclock and pretty much set it as the base wattage and power limits. I also ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic and that came up clean. I ran Assassin's Creed Origin on low and it ran well for a while before crashing in the same fashion.

I’m going to stick with my original assessment of your PSU going bad. Since it’s the cheapest fix I would grab a better quality unit and replace your old PSU.

Is there a certain wattage or efficiency i should be looking for?

Anything over 600 watts with a gold rating would do you well.
