[SOLVED] Computer Shuts off Randomly

When trying to overclock the CPU, my computer will sometimes work for hours and then otherwise randomly shut off. It will shut off even when idle or doing something like word processing.

4790k 4Ghz stock, 4.4Ghz turbo
1660ti
16Gb 1866 RAM on XMP
850W power supply 80+ bronze
Z97-G45 motherboard

I don't think the CPU is overheating since it will shut off when idle at 45 degrees C. I would also not think it was the power supply as it is overkill in terms of wattage, I think. I have tried different CPU ratios in the BIOS and it doesn't seem to matter. Anything other than AUTO will make it crash. I have even tried doing 40 (stock 4Ghz) and it will crash.

Any ideas?

Make and model of the PSU and it's age? Apart from the ratios did you tinker with the voltages to your CPU? You should ideally be on the latest BIOS update for your MSI Z97 chipset board. Are you on said latest BIOS?

I updated the BIOS and that seems to have fixed it. Thanks.
