Computer shuts off

Computer will just shut off and when I turn it back on it tells me there was a CPU FAN FAILURE. Everything plugged in correctly, doesn't seem hot. Had a large number of updates all of a sudden 3 days ago and have been having problems ever since.

Your CPU fan in not working! open the side of the case and make sure it's plug in to the CPU fan spot on the motherboard and their nothing blocking the fan from moving.

It doesn't say AN FAILURE. my fault. It says CPU FAN ERROR. Fan is working fine and clear from dust.

Where are you seeing this error message?

When I turn the computer back on.

That error message will usually show up when the POST (Power On Self Test) routine doesn't detect a tach signal from the fan on the CPU fan header.
