Hi everyone,
I recently just built my pc and i use it mainly for rendering on revit. The cpu is a Ryzen 2600 on stock settings on a asus prime B450m-K. However when im rendering, the computer shuts off when the cpu reaches 70 degrees c, meanwhile amd states the max temp is 95. I've had to turn off core enhancement in bios to stop it from getting 70degrees but it slows down performance. Does anyone know whats going on here?
btw im using the stock cooler and do plan to upgrade but the cpu shouldnt be shutting down at only 70 degree.
Other hardware temps are normal and i doubt its a psu problem.

70c shouldn't be an issue, CPU's go above that when being stress tested with overclocks without shutting down.
Could be a voltage issue, definite possibility for PSU, should never rule that one out. What PSU do you have? With Ryzen, you definitely need the right PSU for most motherboards since they require a bit extra in terms of wattage and amperage on the 12v rail for CPU power.

Try updating the BIOS to a newer version if it has one.
Currently, including the original BIOS, there have been 5 BIOS versions to be made, with two of them to initially improve system performance, and system compatibility.

But double check on that PSU first before going through with updating the BIOS.

PSU is a Gigabyte pb500 80+ bronze 500 watt, specifications state it is an intel form factor atx 12V v2.31. Both bios and chipset drivers are up to date. Is it a PSU problem?

wow...... this is the absolute first time I've ever heard of a Gigabyte PSU. LOL.
I would say it's the PSU, never heard of it nor seen it on any PSU Tier list or PCPartPicker list before.

I would recommend either a CX (not CXM) Corsair unit (2017 models), TX/TXM series Corsair, or Seasonic S12II or Seasonic FOCUS Gold series.

I have personally been recommending the FOCUS Gold series as of late because it's top tier quality but for less than $100.
Can use PCPartPicker to filter out those different PSU models and brands and see what you like that fits within your budget.

Agree with xSimplu1337x, psu will be #1 suspect. I will borrow a good psu to test. What GPU is it? ram speed running?
Borrowed Corsiair vs550 from friend, still same problem. Like I said I doubt it’s a psu problem since it’s running at a low voltage of 1.1 (due to core enhancement being turned off) . It’s just that when ever it hits 70°c computer shuts down, disregarding the voltage. U said u could set up a temp limit on bios ? How would u do that ?

Gpu is 1060 3gb Asus Phoenix
Ram is silicon power 2666 2x8 sticks

You're right about 95c being maximum temp. I think when cpu reaches 70c it's giving the impression it's heat related but coincidentally it's probably stability issues running heavy loads.

Troubleshoot ram, try each stick separately. Try lower ram speed.

Update bios firmware for better memory support.

How does it shutdown? Does it turn back on afterwards?

If cpu temps are in check, shutdowns are commonly caused by ram, gpu, or faulty/overheating psu. Is your case well ventilated?

Computer just turns off while creating a little beep and doesn’t turn back on ( unless I power it on). Normally when I shut it off it doesn’t beep. Bios is up to date. Case is ventilated with two intake at front and one exhaust rear. I’ll try the ram troubleshoot.
