Hello, recently ive upgraded my specs with a phenom quadcore cpu, which is what my motherboard is optimized for. This was the beginning of problems to my computer shutting off, yet from the outset, it can work all day, unless I play a game or now a recent thing, when I watch a video or iplayer or something to which will then either plays for 10 mins or shut off instantly. Also can rarely shut down doing absolutely nothing like click start menu or even browse facebook.

I have also added a 500w psu up from 300w, because cpu wouldnt have run otherwise and also makes the system a bit more stable but it still does shut at least once a day and im fed up.

Temps seems fine, ive checked the motherboard and everythings in order, ive checked event viewer and shows kernal-pnp (power issue because obvs its noticed my computer shut off abruptly) ive just run out of ideas. 🙁

My specs are:

Well it is usual that the fan speed goes slower at idle to avoid unnecessary noise, however 50ºC at idle is not really good, it could easily reach 70ºc+ while at load which could be the reason of your problems...

Lets see your temps at load, like I said before leave it running while gaming and then review the log file to see what temps your video card has reached.
Hi, I did the temps whilst just posting this post. 20 mins prior to posting it had shut off after I browsed some TV vids. Twice on the same page, so i decided to stay away and consult this site for solutions. The temps would have been about the same as you see there.

A no warning shut off, no blue screens, nothing, just happily shuts off.like you just held the power button for 5secs

So idle temps... 51ºC for a video card at idle is quite high, when at load it might be reaching 80+ easily (that card gets hot quite easily),that could be the cause of your shut offs.

Run GPU-Z to monitor your video card temps and enable its log feature, then go ahead and play until the pc turns itself off. Afterwards review the log to find out how hot your video card got.
