Sometimes when I plug/unplug my headphones from my front audio jack my system completely freezes and I have to hold the power button to turn it off and back on.

I've also been having some other issues with it like having to go into my sound mixer and change the device to speakers sometimes. Other times when I plug it in the speakers option is not there and I have to wait ~10 minutes without sound for the speakers option to appear.

Also, every time I plug in my wireless mouse USB dongle I have to go back into the control panel settings and increase the mouse scroll speed to 3, because every time I plug it in it resets to 1. Anyone know a solution to these issues?

Thank you.

Edit: Forgot to include my specs.

Hi,

Loading the BIOS is simple on that MB. It has "BIOS Flashback", you just put the BIOS on a USB drive and it'll flash itself. That also means if the flash fails your MB is not wrecked, just use another computer to build a new USB and hit the button.

Also update your audio driver. This will be one of the chipset drivers that came with your ASUS motherboard. Sometimes windows update loads the wrong driver replacing yours with one that doesn't work 100% with your hardware.

Check also ASUS website to see if there are other driver updates you need to install.

Your audio chip is an ALC887 acording to these guys: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/ASUS-M5A97-R20-Motherboard/1772

if your afraid to do it and dont want to have more issue your better get someone who is use to that , the other thing we could check if the psu work as it should if you have a spare one around even a old one to use it for testing the motherboard and see if the same issue happens .
