Hi all! So my trusty harman/kardons HK395's are in what I believe to be the last days of their life 🙁 I bought these guys from a second hand store for $15 a couple years ago and they have been good to me, but it's time to replace them. Now getting a lot of static with volume adjustments, and the sub isn't what it used to be.

Luckily, my budget is more than $15 now, but I am debating between several models of new speakers. What I am looking for is punchy, deep bass and crisp treble. I listen to a lot of trance music, inspired by classical and therefore these speakers would need to perform well all the way from the highs to the lows in order to give a reasonable interpretation to the music, without sacrificing the boom boom bass...

Contender #1 Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 - So many people swear by these speakers. They're on sale now for $119 at BestBuy and I admit, they sound amazing. However my boyfriend had these and they only lasted him less than 5 years before they went out on him.

Contender #2: Bose Companion 2 Series III - I didn't hear these while I was at BestBuy but I did notice them. The tiny amount of research I did said they blew the ProMedia 2.1's out of the water.

Contender #3: Cyber Acoustics 3550 - So I was kind of baffled as to these speakers getting the high reviews that they did considering they are under $50. Thoughts? I have never actually heard them.

Lastly, Contender #4 : Harman Kardon Soundsticks III - I couldnt resist. My HK's have been so good to me. These are a little over my budget but if they are worth it I will gladly pay the extra $$.

And of course, I know there are many other speakers out there so If anyone has a recommendation please share! My budget max is about $120

Thank you all for your time!

Thats EXACTLY what happened to my bf's set too! Except he didn't fix his and I'm afraid of the same thing happening. I did hear that some of the earlier models in like 2010-2012 had some defects in QC, maybe I would avoid this with a newer set?
