[SOLVED] Computer Starts for 3 Seconds then Turns on and stays in a loop

Hey my friends PC has recently stopped working. When he goes to start it up everything lights up, but then after about 3 seconds it turns back off. It then continues to do that loop infinitely. The only way he can stop it is to do a hard shutdown (holding down the power button until it turns off). We think its his PSU but we are unsure so we wanted to double check before going to buy a new one. The PSU is a little over 5 years old. Thank you for yalls time.

what the cpu/gpu temp?

ill have to get the full system spec from my friend in a bit, but he cant observe the system temp since he cant even get the pc started. It doesnt even give him time to look at the monitor pop up with anything just his pc lighting up.

No display ? That could be RAM or chipset.

Is there anyway to test if its the ram or chipset?

You could start with telling us your full system specs ...

You can try to reseat RAM and CPU in case it's bad contact somewhere but if that wouldn't help the only other solution is to swap in hardware from other PC - RAM or PSU, perhaps CPU.

i would try to find a psu for testing the system before gething a new one .

how many watts would you say that build uses? The only psu we have to test it with is a 450w

About 300W in games, 450W PSU is fine if it's not garbage to start with.
