Computer stuck at boot screen

My computer turns on, then freezes when the Asus logo shows up. Previously, I have gotten multiple blue screens because my brand new CPU (i5 hasswell) has been overheating. I have removed all the drives, the CMOS battery, the RAM and nothing seems to work.

Also, my keyboard and mouse don't light up. Tried moving usb ports from 3.0 to 2.0, no luck

Try without harddisks connected. Does it get past POST? If it does, a harddisk is corrupt.

You have to have RAM installed.
Bare minimum is RAM, CPU, Some kind of GPU be it onboard or discrete.

It could be a dead motherboard, CPU. Has the thermal compound from CPU leaked to other places?

Ram is in there, it does not get past

One thing to check...motherboard BIOS update. Usually when a new CPU is released, the motherboard manufacturer has to release a new updated BIOS to support it. Is your Mobo bios the latest and does it support haswell?

So, I let it sit and it booted. It seems its taking a LONG time for some reason. I am going to flash the bios and I have used this mobo for a week or so

My mobo does that too but only if I have a DVD in the DVD-drive.

Solved. Unplugged all usb devices. Why must the world be so crule to me. Thanks guys for helping!
