Computer stuck in startup repair

Hi, I recently brought an asus M5A97R2.0 motherboard as a replacement for my old one and more ram. I have set everything up correctly, when I turn on my pc, it gives me the option to start in normal mode or startup repair which is recommended. If I go on to normal mode, the windows icon will come up and then freeze, the screen goes blue and says something then it restarts and gives me the same option again... If I go on to startup repair, it is unable to find the problem. And I have two backups which I have tried and they don't seem to change anything. I have attempted to reinstall windows since I got a new motherboard without removing anything, but I can't install due to the problems I'm having. If anyone is able

What was your old motherboard?

Did you have Windows installed on the old setup as IDE or AHCI? If IDE go into the BIOS and change it to IDE if IDE make sure that the BIOS is set to AHCI.

My old motherboard was an asus M5A78L
And I'm not too sure what they are, I can't find the option to change that in the bios setup menu

Refer to the M5A97 R2.0s manual for the location as each board is different but you chould be able to change it between IDE and AHCI.

I have already looked in the manual, I couldn't find anything, even in the bios section. that's why I am looking for help online. I am going to take my pc to where I got the parts from to see if they can do anything about it, and there's other problems with it too. Thanks for your help anyway
