Hello, I'm having a frustrating issue with my computer. Before hand i was playing BF4 when suddenly sound stopped working, i decided i should restart to see if it would fix the problem and now it seems I cant even get past the BIOS. I've tried several things such as removing the RAM, Graphics Card, removing my CMOS for 5 minutes and still no solution. In the BIOS I cant press any keys so its basically stuck. I'm really worried because my pc is new i purchased it 11 months ago.

specs
intel core i7 3770
8 gb ram
GTX 660 o/c
500W PSU

Hope someone can help its really bugging me.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that sounds like a dead motherboard. Like it went out spectacularly. I assume it's built in audio, which may have fried and sent a shock to something else (or the BIOS is hanging up on the audio device check). The problem is that even if it is dead, there's not a good way to know if it's just the motherboard or if your PSU is about to blow up and that's what caused the damage. If you purchased it, at 11 months, it's probably still under warranty. Sorry to hear this though : (
Do you have a wireless mouse or thumb drive plugged in by chance? If so, remove the USB radio or thumb drive and see if that helps. If not, unplug any USB device, HDD, SSD, optical drive, and try to get past POST. You'll get a boot failure, but at least you know one of those things is holding up initialization.

I'm not very common to computers, however i recently got a virus and im wondering maybe its corrupted my windows 7? The thing about this is though i cant type anything so i cannot wipe my hardrive. If the mother board died, why would the bios still pop up? i have no clue. Leo, i have disconnected everything all there is, is my power cable.

From what you described, the BIOS is freezing during the boot up process. The BIOS might still display, but it is running into a problem (the BIOS checks many sub-components during the boot process to make sure nothing is wrong). If something broke on the motherboard (like the integrated sound card) the BIOS could be hanging. So your CPU, RAM and graphics (the basic components for the system) could be operating fine, but when the BIOS addresses your soundcard or whatever else is broken, it hangs (i.e., you can't press any keys).

If isolating every component hasn't resolved the issue, you will want to contact the manufacturer for a replacement or service.

Also, while a corrupted Windows install is a possibility, this would not affect your ability to navigate through the BIOS menu. You would likely just keep power cycling or run into blue screens. This honestly sounds more like a hardware issue (or at minimum a corrupted BIOS software)

This could be the case, although i have had sound problems it may of just been my headset, astro a40s randomly cutting out like they have been fond of doing buy over customers. Is there anyway of testing the soundcard? cause i really cant be bothered waiting awhile for a whole new motherboard, or even a return of my own. Just want to be sure before i send things over in the mail.

cheers

I'm sorry to hear that. But as far as the sound card goes, there's not a good way to test without getting into the OS. I hope you get everything resolved quickly.

Hello, after a couple more days of testing im starting to suspect that my HDD is the cause, either my BIOS is corrupted or Windows is. Its quite weird though. I get a weird graphics glitch with nothing connected. like this

and when i have a 8 gig USB connect or my external HDD it goes away.

As i said im not really smart with computers, but im guessing this is a HDD problem?
