Hey, My computer usually runs fine, can play games at with good fps and graphics, but after a while it just suddenly starts running in slow motion. It's not just being slow. everything goes slow motion, sound aswell, as if i have 1 fps. And it will stay like that till i restart the computer.
It used to happen alot before, until i cleaned my cpu fan for dust. because the temps went crazy, to like 80+. It didnt happen for maybe 2 months and now it's back. But this time the temperatures are fine. they max go to around 50 when it happens.

I was wondering if anyone know what it can be. Do you think my cpu is damaged after all the times it has overheat in the past? or can it be something else?

my specs if needed

Processor: AMD FX(tm)-8120 Eight-Core Processor (8 CPUs), ~3.1GHz
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Memory: 16384MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560

Try out a different PSU, and check all connectors inside the PC case carefully.
This is usually a sign of full RAM, as the PC then starts to write RAM onto the pagefile on the harddrive. How much RAM do you have and how maxed out is it during the slowdown?

i have 16 gb ram on my pc and it goes to max 5 GB when im playing. here's a picture https://gyazo.com/f2624b075da3cb8fd717d167992ed0d1
And it's at 3.50gb when im not doing anything. I don't know anything about Ram to be honest, are these numbers normal?

the slow motion thing is also really hard to describe. It's not like my computer just takes a long time to load stuff and is being slow.
The whole computer just suddnely runs at probably 1-2 frames per second, and the sound is as if you're playing a song in slow motion and very choppy.
Before i cleaned all the fans for dust, this happened 50% of the time, and the other 50% of the time it just completley froze.
I've been thinking it might be the CPU, but im no computer expert. So if it's not the CPU i don't want to waste my money on a new CPU if that's not the problem.

And i'll also add another thing that might help. Some times it might go for days without anything happening and everything is fine. But once it happens 1 time, i turn my computer off for about 10 minutes and turn it back on, and it usually happens again very soon after. And it only happens when im either playing a game, or if im forexample rendering a video on sony vegas.

Hmm, difficult, that could be anything. Have you encountered any other problems with your PC How is the CPU usage on idle?

the cpu usage just stays at 0 mostly if im not doing anything, and goes to maybe 2-3% if i move my mouse.
additional info that might be useful, 2 days ago and today, my computer froze when i was turning it off. it had been fine the whole time while i was playing today, and i checked the temps before i turned it off, they were fine aswell. and when i tried to turn it off it just froze on the shut down screen.

and i havnt encountered any other problems tbh, when it's not failing, it runs really smooth and is pretty fast. the temps and everything else just seem normal. Im thinking maybe the CPU is broken after all the times i let it overheat in the past? But i don't know much about PC's. So if it's not the CPU i don't wanna replace it and find out it's something else you know.
