Hi guys,

I've been having this rather frustrating problem for a while now and I can't for the life of me figure out what's going on.

My PC seems to turn off (as if the power cable was unplugged) whilst watching films/TV shows and about 30 seconds to a minute after watching a stream on Twitch. I can play all games on my computer at MAX settings without the computer turning off but as soon as I try to watch a stream or film/tv show it will turn off suddenly. I have no idea why this would happen as I have the latest drivers and shockwave/flash updates.

Here are the specs if it helps:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz (8 CPUs), ~4.0GHz
EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti Superclocked w/ EVGA ACX Cooler
8GB DDR3 (2x4GB) Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866Mhz
Corsair H100i Hydro Series CPU Watercooler
Asus ROG Maximus VI HERO, Intel Z87 Motherboard
850W Seasonic X-Series, Full Modular PSU
Corsair Vengeance C70 High Airflow Case
1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD
256GB 840 Evo Samsung SSD
Windows 8.1 64-Bit

I started a thread back in January when I was experiencing a similar problem but unfortunately no solution was found. It contains a little more insight as to when and how the problem started so if it helps do please take a look.

Since then I've replaced the CMOS battery and installed new drivers as they come available but the crashes seem to continue.

I don't want to write an entire essay but instead I will answer all your questions and provide more information if needed such as Event viewer logs, and temps etc.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully we can get to the bottom of this issue.

Thanks for the info!

I'm going to start by saying I don't have experience with this problem, but i will try and help.

Possible solutions:

1. Make sure that you have the latest chipset drivers, or any of the latest motherboard drivers for that route. The reason i say this is because the 4790k is a Z97 Chipset, not Z87. So it may not be compatible if you dont have the right drivers

2. Try using intergrated graphics to see if the problem persists. It may be a faulty graphics card.

3. Try a different web browser with the latest plugins (I recommend Opera/Opera Next).

Let me know how that went.
