[SOLVED] Computer Switches Off during Different Acitivities

I have a PC which is instantaneously switching off (as though someone had just pulled the plug on it) when either:

  • playing certain higher-intensity games (though certainly not THAT intensive)
  • plugging in my phone to charge via a USB port

I have updated all drivers for the GPU, USB ports, etc. I have also re-installed windows, including a complete storage wipe, just in case this was application- or software-related, but to no avail.

I’ve also cleaned my PC for any dust, just in case it was an overheating issue, but my PC has been running fine for 18 months and this only just started a week ago. Temperature readings for all components are more than acceptable.

Does anyone have any advice or knowledge on what this could be? My hunch is a PSU fault. Could a faulty PSU cause this and why?

My specs include:
  • AMD Ryzen 2600 6-Core CPU
  • Corsair 2x8 GB DDR4 RAM
  • Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500 GB SSD
  • Gigabyte RTX 2600 GPU
  • ASRock B450 Pro4 AMD motherboard
  • Cooler Master MWE 750 W 80+ Gold PSU

All advice appreciated!

Tried to update the bios to the latest and load optimized (and save) after update?
Installed the latest amd chipset driver and use amd ryzen balanced power plan?
Tried to use the main pcie cable head instead of the separate ones like this:
