There really needs to be a sticky about how to calculate system depreciation. :lol:

Anyways here's what you do to get the value:

Take what you paid for it, subtract the salvage value (if there is any) and divide it by the life of the system.

For instance say you paid $1100 for your rig, you've owned it three years and there's a salvage value of $1150, and you're selling it in May.

(($1100 - $150) / 3) * (8 / 12) = $525.84

$1100 - $525.84 = $574.16

Your system would be worth $574.16.
