Hello!

Guys I'm a bit lost as to what I can do to reliably narrow this problem down but lately I've been having a bunch of different PC issues, from BSODs to freezes and a weird knack on my CPU to not be able to run integrated graphics(it always crashes, forcing me to use a dedicated GPU) yada yada

My most recent event was a match of Total War Warhammer II(which I believe is a very CPU-intensive game) where my computer suddenly turned off and trying to turn it back on resulted in a short boot sequence that also turned off right after, the only way to get it to even light up again was to unplug the power cable and try again(did this a few times and all of them failed)... Waiting a few hours and trying it again managed to get me a successful boot which confuses the heck out of me. I recently changed my PSU, MOBO and GPU so I don't think these parts are faulty, all of them have less than 3 months of use but the CPU has been with me for a bit and since it has been faulty(with the integrated stuff) I am wondering if it's going to die for sure soon.

Do you have any suggestions as to how I can narrow this problem down? Or if the problem could be related to something else(don't rule out the things I said were new!)?

Thank you for your time and sorry for the wall of text! :pt1cable:

Sorry!

MOBO: Z97-M from ASUS
CPU: i7-4790k from Intel(duh)
PSU: SDP-0700P Smart 700w from Thermal Take
GPU: Galax 1060 GTX OC 6GB DDR3
RAM: 2 HyperX 4gb sticks, DDR3 I believe
One SSD and one HDD

--------------

PC just turned off while I was browsing the web(not a cpu-intensive task) so all my guesses are awful I guess

Yes!

It usually idles around 55-60C while gaming can bring it up to 95ish(only on peaks though it usually stays at 70)

At this last "turn off" it was on the idle range

CPU and it used to be much worse. This model is quite the heater and I live in a tropical country. I'm fairly certain it's not a temp issue for it has worked on these values for almost 3 years now

You haven’t downloaded any software that may have overclocked your cpu have you?msi afterburner etc. etc. Also have you changed anything in he bios? It may help to get a better cooler. I hope your not using stock. Your computer maybe restarting due to high temps as a way to prevent overheating even idle.

I had MSI afterburner installed but recently removed it. I am not using the stock cooler and those temps are kinda common for my CPU. If it was turning off due to overheating I don't see why that'd only start now

The CPU is tweaked in the bios yes, to use a static voltage and be clocked at 4.2hz otherwise the computer would crash all the time in some applications

It turned out to be an issue with the PSU after all.

Replacing it solved the issue, as it was under warranty things went smoothly fine!

Thanks for the help everyone!

Happy, smooth endings that don't cost you anything are the best ones!
