Computer turned on before al parts were installed!?

Hey I am building my first pc and i leave for a drink and I come back my little sister has turned on the pc!
It didnt have the gpu, ram or even the heatsink in. If the computer was on for max 5 seconds, and there isnt even a heatsink on it, will the cpu be damaged?

probably not. why did you have it plugged into the wall if all the stuff wasn't in? especially the heatsink.

Hi

If it starts up when you have finished building it you will know it is OK

There is temperature measuring sensor in the CPU which talks to the BIOS if it gets too hot and shuts down the power suppy
In addition many motherboards will switch off if the CPU FAN is not connected

Mine does not. The CPU fan was plugged in, but getting no power (bad connection) and it caused emergency shutdown

@OP, like the other guy said, why was it plugged in to power before you were done? I always unplug mine when I'm going to do some internal work
