Hi everyone

I am having a very bad issue with my computer.

I opened the case and took out the heat sink for the cpu and applied thermal paste to the cpu , I plugged everything back in and now when I power up my PC it restarts instantly and stays powered on for around 3 minutes and turns off , when this first happened , I noticed the windows loading screen lagging but now I don't event have any video signal for some reason so can't see what's happening on screen.

Ensure you applied the thermal paste properly and make sure heat sink is well seated. If your hsf is not installed properly, your cpu temperature will go high and your system will shutdown itself to protect your parts from damage.

If heat sink is ok, try reset - press "mem ok" / bios switch in your motherboard.

Ok I have applied new thermal paste and video signal has come back, but then the computer got stuck on 'starting windows',but after few min said updating registry with windows logo then it restarted any gigabyte pop came up on boot saying bios isn't configured correctly and there's a problem with the boot , I selected restore default bios settings , now it restarted and is stuck on starting windows and sometimes a blue screen comes up with text and the PC just turns off...

Look for "mem ok" button inside your board.. Turn ON your pc then press hold this button for few secs until your system reset.

If bsod still there.. tell us what is your motherboard, if it has USB bios flashback option... use different pc, download latest bios save it in the usb... look for USB flashback bios port... then update..

After that try repair your Windows OS.. :)

You don't have to do that if it POST and working... It's probably your application of thermal paste / heat sink as everyone here were saying.. Your CPU should be fine, motherboard monitors your cpu condition, usually board get damaged first before cpu..

Ok , windows is installing right now and I will keep you updated after it's done , hopefully it will load windows , I have noticed the PC is quite slow , last time it installed windows twice as faster.

Success , windows is working now and I have ordered a new cooler master Evo hyper 212, there's only one problem now , there's no signal coming from the gpu but there's signal coming from the motherboard hdmi?
