So, it's quite a long story. I have had this pc which I built myself for 3 years. I clean it regularly with just air every month and in depth every 6 months. Time of cleaning came, I did what I always do, when I tried to star it up again the dreaded turning on for 3 secs and then off another 3 secs to turn back on in an endless loop. I checked the components, changed the ram sticks from slots then, disconnected each component separately and tried to start it to find the same issue.

I read in some threads here saying that I should take out the battery of the mobo and nothing then I checked the processor and damn the socket pins were bent. I obviously came to the conclusion THAT was the culprit. So there I go buy a new mobo almost same model than last one and out of fear my cpu was also fried I asked for a friend's for the new mobo to test it at least. I assembled it with the two new components and STILL THE SAME.

I am there scratching my head thinking the only things I haven't completely taken out of the equation are the PSU and the ram. So I take it to a repair shop near my home and along with the guy there we tested other ram sticks and another PSU still freaking nothing. So the only thing left was the case which I tested with another one of their mobos and worked perfectly so I am at a loss here, I really honestly am.

I have isolated and checked every single component with my old and new mobo and with the two cpus and I cant find what is doing this to my baby.

Any ideas?

First of all, the i3-8100 won't work in either of those boards, or ANY board that is not a 300 series board. Same socket, but completely incompatible. No way for any forwards or backwards compatibility between 100 or 200 series boards and 8th/9th gen cpus, or visa versa.

And if the guy at the shop didn't know that, I'd never take anything there again because he shouldn't be touching anybody's hardware.

If the motherboard had bent pins, there is EVERY chance that the CPU is also shot. How it was running previously with bent pins, and you didn't know it, who knows, but one bent pin on a powered system is enough to fry the CPU or any other component that that pin happens to provide power or throughput for from the PCI, SATA or any other...

I'd get the least expensive 6th gen CPU you can find, and try THAT in the new motherboard.

Right now, that's this, if you don't know somebody with a 6th gen CPU you can borrow.
