Computer turns on and off in cycles, no display. NEED URGENT HELP

opened up pc today to replace the CPU (changing from an i3 2100 to i7 3770k) and so i unplugged all plugs from the motherboard and plugged back in once the i7 and the hyper evo heatsink were installed.

24pin connected, 8pin to cpu connected, all system fans connected. Both HDD's plugged in sata and powered.

Power turned on, all motherboard lights/fan lights/psu lights turn on fans spinning, and then shuts off after 6 seconds and cycles.

Gtx780
MSI P67A-G45
seagate barracuda 1tb
WD caviar blue 1tb
i3 2100/i7 3770k

That happened to me last november. I could never find a solution to it so I just returned my mobo, CPU, and PSU to the store I bought it from and when I put in all of the replacements, it worked. You might have shocked the motherboard or something just as fragile. Were you wearing an anti static wrist strap?

no i wasnt, i usually just make sure im holding the case as i work. there were no shocks or sounds to indicate anything (and tbh i even built this computer without an antistatic band).

and its not the cpu thats at fault here, i tried swapping back to my old processor in the slot and it still didnt turn on, but i dont have any way of telling if the mobo is faulted or not.

okay true, but i was holding the case as i worked. and i dont have the leeway of following the suggestion of sending everything back becuase this is only a cpu upgrade on an otherwise 2year old pc.

hence i want to single out the issue at hand.

Well to be honest, I really do not know how to fix it I just wanted to let you know that I had the same problem and how I fixed it

Good possibility your BIOS is out of date - the P67 mobo were for SB CPUs, the 3770K is an IB CPU and the P67 requires an updated BIOS to support the newer CPU

I also had that idea at one point, but putting the i3 back in did not cause the computer to boot. So thats not it.

I get the feeling i've possibly plugged something wrong or etc. because the cpu or the heatsink doesn't seem to be heating up, ive tried with both the i3/i7, can you walk me through the installation,or troubleshoot?

SOunds almost like you may not have the 4/8 pin connector from the PSU to the mobo in, plugs in by the CPU socket
